Queer

Aiden

Aiden (he/him/his) is a community college student, studying Psychology. He was raised in New Jersey, but resides with his husband and two dogs in Sacramento. He has been socially transitioning for 15 years, and medically for nearly a decade. He started at CSU, Sacramento in the Fall of 2023. 

Alexander R. 

Alex (hey/they) is a a queer disabled neurodivergent low-income student. He recently graduated from the Los Rios Community College system (2023) with two Associates degrees and he’s transfering to Sac State for their Bachelor’s in Psychology. They write books, build wooden figures and structures, and play video games in what little spare time he has.

Allan

Allan (he/him) is trans, ace and queer. He is a psychology student minoring in interdisciplinary neuroscience and an artist focusing in visual and auditory mediums.

Ayana

Ayana (she/her) is a bi-curious cisgender woman. She is a Studio Art and Art history major, and in the future she hopes to venture into higher education and eventually own her own gallery space that focuses on black and POC artists. Outside of making art, she loves to learn by watching documentaries and video essays. She also loves playing video games, with my favorites being The Sims, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda series!

Francisco

Francisco (he/they) attends college primarily at American River College in Sacramento, California where he studies Sociology. He loves to listen to music, make playlists, travel, be with his partner and our pets. They aren’t 100% sure what their current career goal is, but they are thinking of becoming a teacher like their mom and grandma.

Gabriela

Gaby Lopez (she/they) is a first-generation Honduran American born in Sacramento, California. They have recently graduated with an A.S. in General Science from American River College, and is continuing her studies at Portland State university in the Public Health field. She is active in the Sacramento Queer community participating in the SVLGS softball league, @QueerSports events, and supporting community organizers. They hope to continue to give back to the community in Portland that has nurtured her growth after coming from a strict, religious upbringing. Their passions for caring for others, education, and inclusion drives them to continue working in the health field to make a difference for Queer BIPOC+ in healthcare.

Krystal L.

Krystal L. (they/them) is a journalism major at Sacramento City College. They identify their sexuality as unlabeled. They are interested in becoming a journalist to raise awareness about the inequities of our world. In their free time, they love eating food, drama, and writing (especially about said food & drama). They plan on transferring to a 4-year college in California within the next year or so.

Lenee

Lenee (she/they) is a student at Sacramento City College studying studio art. Lenee identifies as queer, bisexual, gender fluid, polyamorous, and autistic, and is the president of the Queer Straight Alliance club at her college. Their hobbies include watching YouTube videos, reading, drawing, knitting, taking care of plants, and taking pictures.

Linh

Linh (she/her) is a student at Cosumnes River College studying to go into the neuroscience field. She is on the ace and aromantic spectrums. Outside of school, she loves to draw and read, as well as spend time outdoors by running or hiking. 

Mariah

Mariah (she/her) is from Sacramento, California and attends American River College. She identifies as a queer woman/questioning lesbian. She’s also biracial: white and Mexican American. She loves art, including drawing, watching cartoons, and going to the movies.

Mico

Mico (he/they) graduated from UC Santa Cruz and is currently attending a community college in Sacramento in order to become a nurse. He is a queer Filipino trans man who is also neurodiverse. When not studying, he enjoys doing things outdoors, including hiking, camping, and going to the beach. He also enjoys going to festivals and concerts and is getting more into cooking.

Phoenix F.

Phoenix (he/they) is a trans man who enjoys learning and relaxing in the backyard. He loves nature, and enjoys going on walks on trails when he has time. His major is revolves around his love for nature as well! He hopes to transfer to UC Davis in two and a half years’ time. Although he has a handful of challenges at home (with family members) it has gotten slightly better after years of therapy. Phoenix hopes to eventually become an Environmental lawyer.

Ryal

Ryal (he/they) identifies broadly as queer. He is a lifelong student with interests in the Social Sciences and Humanities. He loves animals and enjoys camping, video games, reading, and spending time with friends.

Sam

Sam (she/they) is a student at Sacramento City College (SCC) with many educational passions, such Psychology, Philosophy, Art and Law, Public Policy & Society. They have experienced many obstacles through their path towards getting a higher education. As a long-term SCC student, Sam has seen the overall improvements of services and programs provided to students. They hope that these helpful tools continue to improve and encourage the implementation of new courses that further educate students of the future.

Sara

Sara (they/any) is a queer, first generation college student, returning to school after previously receiving their BS in Psychology from UC Davis. They are currently in the Library and Information Technology Program at Sacramento City College. Sara is a community organizer working to cultivate a sustainable network of mutual aid and support within their community.

Savvy

Savvy (she/they/it) identifies as a queer demigirl. Savvy currently studies Graphic Design at American River college and is also pursuing a certificate in 3D animation. Savvy loves creating digital artwork, listening to music, and bringing joy to people. They hope to one day work in 3D production in film.

Spencer

Spencer (he/him) is a queer trans man. He is open about his transition and he aspires to be a K-12 teacher in public schools. Spencer hopes to be open about his gender identity with his future students and be a positive role model for LGBT+ youth. His favorite pastime is solving jigsaw puzzles.

Trajan

Trajan (he/him) is a queer African-American student of Jamaican and Austrian descent who attended Folsom Lake College. He worked as a founding team member at Folsom Lake College’s Equity Center where he assisted his campus in helping students reeling from the impacts from the pandemic. During his last year of community college, Trajan served on the Los Rios Community College Board of Trustees as a Student Trustee. In the fall of 2023, Trajan transferred to UC Berkeley where he will major in economics.
