Non-Binary & Genderqueer

Alexander 

Alex (hey/they) is a a queer disabled neurodivergent low-income student. He recently graduated from the Los Rios Community College system (2023) with two Associates degrees and he’s transfering to Sac State for their Bachelor’s in Psychology. They write books, build wooden figures and structures, and play video games in what little spare time he has.

Ayacaxtli

Ayacaxtli (she/they) is Two-Spirit because they are an indigenous person who is pansexual. She is attending Sacramento City College and is studying to become a lawyer. Ayacaxtli wants to be a Civil Lawyer so they can hold big companies responsible for land-grabs that destroy the environment, as well as hold the government responsible for not respecting tribal treaties.

Ashley

Ashley (she/they) is an autistic, speech-impaired, and transfeminine student at American River College. She particularly enjoys animation, video games, and cooking, and is currently working towards her acting certificate.

Cassandra

Cassandra is a non-binary transfemme lesbian staff member and student at SCC. Cass uses they/them and she/her pronouns, with no particular preference for either set. She graduated in 2021 from SCC with an AS in Design and Digital Media and currently works as an Instructional Assistant at the SCC Makerspace. Right now, they’re intending to pursue a transfer degree in Biological studies in hopes of becoming a coroner. In her free time, Cass enjoys writing, crafting for cosplay, and digging into the intricacies of movies, games, and music. 

Dale

Dale (he/they) is a current Sacramento City College student studying Criminal Justice. They are an artist, dancer, and single parent. His favorite way to spend time is reading or with his child. They hope to become a forensic pathologist eventually after perusing a simpler forensic science position.

Diego

Diego (they/them) was born on September 22, 1991 in Chicago, and is transgender, non-binary, and the middle child of three. They spend their free time crafting or creating art, such as spray painting, airbrushing, drawing, playing music (guitar, bass, piano), playing video games, training Kuk Sool (traditional Korean martial arts), or socializing with friends and family.

Emily 

Emily (any/all pronouns) is genderqueer, asexual, aro-spec (aromantic-spectrum), pan-attracted, and non-monogamous. They are a Social Work major at Sacramento State University and transferred from San Joaquin Delta College. He doesn’t have a specific career goal in mind, and hopes to find it as he learns about the social work field in college. A few of her interests and hobbies are cooking, baking, reading, gardening, playing video games, and listening to music

Francisco

Francisco (he/they) attends college primarily at American River College in Sacramento, California where he studies Sociology. He loves to listen to music, make playlists, travel, be with his partner and our pets. They aren’t 100% sure what their current career goal is, but they are thinking of becoming a teacher like their mom and grandma.

Hevani

Hevani (she/her) is bisexual and asexual. She is Tongan and a quarter Puerto Rican from her mom. She currently attends Sacramento City College where she is majoring in biochemistry. She hopes to transfer to UC Davis or Sac State to finish her degree and pursue a career in forensic science. A few of her favorite hobbies are reading, writing, sketching, painting and being a rugby referee.

Krystal K.

Krystal  (they, them) is second-generation Chinese American, genderqueer, and pansexual. They were born and raised in the various areas of the San Francisco Bay Area. Krystal has an Associate’s Degree in Social Sciences and soon will have an Associate’s Degree in Social Justice from American River College. Through lived experiences and education they have been working towards dismantling the Model Minority Myth in their work and community. They have a passion for learning Asian American history, mostly in California, and the connection to how food has changed through the generations.

Krystal L.

Krystal L. (they/them) is a journalism major at Sacramento City College. They identify their sexuality as unlabeled. They are interested in becoming a journalist to raise awareness about the inequities of our world. In their free time, they love eating food, drama, and writing (especially about said food & drama). They plan on transferring to a 4-year college in California within the next year or so.

Leah

Leah (they/them) is a non-binary lesbian attending Sacramento City College. They are studying geology/hydrology and their goal is to work as a hydrologist making sure people have safe access to clean water in California! In their free time they enjoy watching TV, crocheting, and being outdoors.

Maria

Maria identifies as omnisexual and polyamours, as well as “indigenous and as a goddess.” They are not particular about pronouns as she is non-binary. Maria is a 37-year-old Bay Area native. Maria is a first-generation student working on 3 associates degrees, all related to communications, at American River College. Her long-term goal is a PHD in Behavioral Neuroscience with a focus on neurodivergence and the positive global impacts we can usher by supporting these folks in their special interests. Maria enjoys being in nature, reading, creating content, and making memories with their son and family.

Phoenix F

Phoenix (he/they) is a trans man who enjoys learning and relaxing in the backyard. He loves nature, and enjoys going on walks on trails when he has time. His major is revolves around his love for nature as well! He hopes to transfer to UC Davis in two and a half years’ time. Although he has a handful of challenges at home (with family members) it has gotten slightly better after years of therapy. Phoenix hopes to eventually become an Environmental lawyer.

Phoenix S.

Phoenix (they/them) is an LGBTQIA+ autistic person who is hard of hearing. They work for the Department of Health Care Services for the State of California as a Staff Services Analyst (General). They take online classes at the Los Rios community college system for fun. They have an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering, but they decided to switch paths due to the toxicity in the engineering discipline. They love cats and dogs a lot, even more than people.

Rocky

Rocky (they/he/she) is African-American, White and non-binary. They are also bisexual and demisexual. He is currently a first year at American River College and is studying Psychology in hopes of becoming a teacher someday.

Sam

Sam (she/they) is a student at Sacramento City College (SCC) with many educational passions, such Psychology, Philosophy, Art and Law, Public Policy & Society. They have experienced many obstacles through their path towards getting a higher education. As a long-term SCC student, Sam has seen the overall improvements of services and programs provided to students. They hope that these helpful tools continue to improve and encourage the implementation of new courses that further educate students of the future.

Sara

Sara (they/any) is a queer, first generation college student, returning to school after previously receiving their BS in Psychology from UC Davis. They are currently in the Library and Information Technology Program at Sacramento City College. Sara is a community organizer working to cultivate a sustainable network of mutual aid and support within their community.

Soledad

Soledad (She/They/It) is a Mexican-American/Chicana bisexual nonbinary transgender woman. She is a Pre-Health major planning to attend the Vet Tech Program at Cosumnes River College (though she is thinking about changing her major again). They like to read, do makeup, play video games, and crochet as a few of their favorite hobbies
