Our Stories

Welcome! Thank you for visiting the website of the Queer and Trans Community College Student Oral History Project. This project tells the stories of approximately 50 queer students in community colleges via video-recorded oral history interviews.

It is our hope that these interviews, and the other resources provided here, will help community college educators provide more robust and nuanced support for our queer students broadly, and our students of color, disabled and neurodiverse students, and our poor and working-class queer students in particular.

We encourage you to browse our interviews page, which houses the longer interviews with students, as well as the page with short videos on important themes in the lives and educational experiences of the students interviewed. Please feel free to show these short videos in meetings and classes at your college.

In the video below, several students discuss what brings them queer joy! To find other videos like this, go to the short videos page.
